Top 5 of March

Hey guys!
So as I was laying in bed at 2 in the morning with my legs burning beneath my laptop as my speakers blared 'Let It Go' by Idina Menzel (don’t lie, if you have seen Frozen, there is a point in your life where you have sang AT LEAST a verse of this song at the top of your lungs), my thoughts stumbled upon an idea for my (so far, very lacklustre) blog.

Aside from my usual entanglement of 2 am thoughts, which include:
Did I finish all my homework?
Why do boys exist and give me so much feels?
How can I get ahold of a bellini machine?
Did I feed my fish today?
Oh god, I really do hope I went to the washroom before settling into bed

Out of the amidst, I thought, why not do a summary of things that happened in March and make this a monthly thing for my blog? This can include random stories that have happened to me in my (lacking) life, things that I have learned/discovered, my monthly favourites (of products/items), etc.

Of course I am not taking full credit for this idea, as I have seen youtubers (such as Zoella for example) do monthly favourites, as well as many other vloggers/bloggers. But from that idea alone, I was inspired to start incorporating this concept that has been running around the internet in my own bloggity form.

So without further ado, here is my own list of my ‘Top 5 of March’:

1. Getting My License

After renewing my learners for a 2nd time, and after a failed attempt at the test the first time around (the nerves definitely got to me), 3 years later after much stalling, I finally got my license as of March 10/2014!
You have no idea the kind of relief I have felt when I realized that I will now be avoiding the bus for the majority of the time. No more late arrivals (buses are never are never on time, let me tell you that), stinky old men sitting next to me (unless you count my relatives sitting next to me on the passenger seat…I kid, I kid), and awkward conversations with people that do not get the hint that you don’t want to talk to them.
God bless.

2. Learning How to Make Pizza Dough

A few weeks ago, I was over at my best friend Natalie’s house, and since I was staying late that night, out of the whim we decided we should make pizza for dinner.
I’ve always been accustomed to ordering pizza instead of attempting to make my own since for one, I’m lazy, and two, I’m lazy (there really is no other reason aside from that).
And in the end, the pizza turned out super delicious and it literally took no more than an hour!
So if you are ever having a lazy night in, or even a girl’s night, be sure to have your Frozen playlist ready so you can sing while you prep, and then you can head over to Natalie’s blog and view her super simple pizza dough recipe, here

Since my life has not been very eventful in March, I’ll be moving onto products/items that I recommend:

3. Garnier Fructis

My hair has always been naturally straight, but sometimes I would get the annoying one sided hair end flips, or dry hair for that matter. So that’s why I went to my local drugstore and picked up Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine. The price retails for about $7, but I got mine on sale at London Drugs for $3! This formula is enriched with Moroccan argan oil and apricot and it soaks deep into your hair to smooth each strand. It can be applied to both damp hair (before you blow dry) or dry hair (after you have straightened your hair and want a finishing look). And not only does it smell super GOOD, it also keeps my annoying hair frizz and ends straight and sleek all day.

4. Eyeliner

Although I have been using two types of particular eyeliner for quite sometime now, this month I had to rebuy my eyeliners as I had run out. So I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to include them in my Top 5 of March!
First off, I do use two types of eyeliners - a liquid eyeliner for my top lid, and a pencil eyeliner for my bottom lid. Second, my eyes are naturally watery (this is probably my top first world struggles), so it has always been a hassle to find the perfect waterproof eyeliner for my eyes until I had stumbled across these two brands.

For my upper lid, I use and recommend Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner (I use the colour jet black). It glides super easily on your lid, and it stays true to it’s word in that there is no smudging, skipping, or pulling. It has a super fine tip as well, so if you like the occasional wing, you should definitely give this a try!
It is however, a little pricey as I have only seen this product in Sephora. It’s about $26, but knowing this has good reviews, and knowing that it has done me good, don’t be afraid to consider this eyeliner if you have the extra cash on you!

As for my bottom lid, I have been in a long time struggle finding a good eyeliner that doesn’t run down my face and make me look like a raccoon. Most recently in the past months however, I have found and started using Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in black. You can find this in about any drugstore (I usually find mine at Target or Walmart) for about $8. This too, also glides on super easily and it lasts all day!

As a college/university student (and also just being a living breathing human-being overall), I probably yawn 70% of the day. And when I yawn, my eyes turn into monstrous waterfalls, but both of these eyeliners have succeeded in making me not looking like a drowned raccoon. So I hope this helps if you were ever wondering about venturing out to try different eyeliners!

5. Calendar Whiteboard

As a person with a very scattered mind who often forgets things, investing in a calendar whiteboard was probably the smartest thing I have done thus far this month. I am also a person who sees things visually, so making to-do lists weren’t living up to it’s full potential. With my calendar whiteboard I can now colour code, underline, and highlight my priorities, deadlines, tests, and lastly, the Canucks’ game schedule.
I found this handy calendar whiteboard at the beginning of this month in the home section of Target. This calendar (it also comes along with a black marker) retails for about $9.
So if you are a visual person with a busy schedule, I would totally recommend this!
I mean, buying calendars with beautiful pictures is also always an option, but ain’t nobody got time to flip that page every month (or this may only apply to me since I am extremely lazy and I would flip my calendar halfway into the new month). But if you don’t mind erasing and filling in your own doodles and schedules every month, this is always a fun alternative to a regular calendar! And besides, this is reusable for many years to come!

Also, if you were trying to decipher my mess of a calendar, this is how I colour coded it:
Red = important tests/quizzes
Pink = assignment deadlines
Green = birthdays
Purple = appointments
Blue = Canucks home games
Orange = Canucks away games

So this ends my Top 5 of March, hope you guys enjoyed this or found this somewhat interesting or helpful!
I hope to see you next time!

Welcome to my blog!

Hey guys! How’s it going?
Welcome to my blog, where you can expect to see a glimpse into my (mediocre) life through a variety of blog posts.
Hopefully I don’t bore you too much and that you stick along for the ride!

To start off with, my name is Rachelle, I am 19 years old, and I was born in Vancouver, Canada. I am currently a second year college/university student studying to get a degree in Behavioural Neuroscience.

As a post-secondary student, I can now confirm that french vanilla coffee does consume half of my body weight, sleep is not real, C's are the new A's, and the freshman 15 is more like the freshman 25.
But aside from the hideous truths about school, my social experience has been great. Venturing out in a new environment and meeting new friends is definitely something I don’t regret!

Besides being a typical student, you can also say I am attached to my laptop a bit too much for my own good.
As an overly obsessed internet person, YouTube was one of the sites that had me hooked from when I was a young teen.
From watching notable YouTubers, such as Smosh, NigaHiga, Charles Trippy, Shaytards, Pewdiepie, Tyler Oakley, Zoella (just to name a few), this inspired my best friend Natalie and I to make our own YouTube channel, which you can check out here

We started our channel about a month ago, and as a hobby we both enjoy making content for our channel to share with viewers across the web.
So far, it has been a really fun experience, and we hope to make much more videos in the future!

When I’m not on the computer, I also dedicate my time to watching the good old Canadian sport, which we call hockey. Because why do a physical sport yourself when you can just watch it and get enjoyment out of that alone?!
But in all seriousness, the Canucks are my team, and that’s all I have to say about that!

Other small things that I enjoy doing is reading and writing. As a kid, I’ve always loved diving into books and escaping into another world. This also bought up my interest of writing. Whether it be venting or making up a different world, writing has definitely helped me get a lot of my thoughts down.
So I guess starting this blog might be a step closer to opening myself up and sharing my life with you guys! You can also expect to see reviews and tips/advice that I find beneficial in sharing with you all.

So if you’re still reading this, I applaud you, and I really do hope I get to see you again the next time I post!
Thanks for reading and catch you all later (hopefully)!
